Anime Weekend Atlanta 2015

Image
Bit behind about publishing this post.... I got a little busy with work and setting up plans to attend Anime Matsuri 2016. On September 23-27, I attended Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) in Georgia. Its one of the top ten largest anime events in the United States. My mother and one of my best friends, Kayla, went with me. The layout of the event was very nice and there were plenty of areas for photos and finding a place to rest. Convent part was the food place in the convention center, which was a little over priced, but I did not feel like walking across the road to the mall for food especially since it was raining on and off all weekend (-_-); . Also we were not able to attend all of the event, just Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Since it was a last minute booking a hotel, we did not get one of the main hotel and had a lot of issues with taxi service which were very slow and took an hour to have one arrive. That was one of the negatives that I experienced from this trip, but eas...

Anicult - Surabaya, Indonesia

Image
June 6-7 2015, I spent time at an anime event in Surabaya, Indonesia. It was the first event that I ever attended outside the US. I was really excited to attend because I knew a few friends who were attending including a few members of 1000% Boyz, Flo, Novi, and Miho. So I was really excited to see them and what they would be wearing to the event. I was very nervous because I was not sure what would happen once I got there. I am used to anime events held in hotels or large convention centers, but in Indonesia they aremostly held in malls and are very small (though it did not seem so small with how crowded it got).   Which in its own way is pretty cool because there were lots of places to eat if you got REALLY hungry :3. Usually they only have a contest and a Q&A session with the guestsand of course, depending on the event, a performance of some kind. Though what made me happy was seeing Sato, Ryo, Ochi, and Adrian cosplay from UtaPri..... cause even though I am thei...

Photo by Carla            By far a lot better than last year with arriving by airplane and the time of events starting at the convention. I have to say as soon as I arrived at Hilton Americas in Houston, TX on Thursday April 2 craziness started. Met up with my roommates for the convention Alex (who I met last year, ya that crazy girl who fangirled with me last JFashion Show), Carla, and the Kawaii Ambassador of Mexico Daniela....... basically a cosplayer rooming with three Lolitas, what craziness can come of that, right? How about shaking hands with Reika finally!!!! Which caused my heart and brain to over heat and want to rash from over excitement XD Slowly working my way for a hug. Little steps....little steps. I think my roommates finally understood how bad I am around Reika XD, but I don't care it makes me soooooo happy :) It was the most longest weekend, but because it felt long I had 3 times more fun than las...

My Cosplaying

Image
I've grown up with conventions all my life, my father Joe Motes use to run a convention called Vulkon Entertainment. It was dedicated to most scifi shows, but he did create a few for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Back then I really wasn't into cosplaying, but I did find it interesting to see what people did. It wouldn't be until I attended my first convenion outside of Vulkon that I got really interested in cosplaying, Dragoncon 2009 to be exact. My friend Monica on the left and I am on the right.  Before I started to cosplay I was in a high school club called Paladin Society where I volunteered at Renaissance Fairs thought out south Florida. This is where I learned how to sew, weave on a loom, learned about Apothecary and weapons fighting. After I got into my university I thought I never sew again, but in 2013 I got inspire by a famous cosplayer. Her name is Reika and she a famous Japanese cosplayer that has traveled the world to appear as a main guest fo...

ACen (Anime Central) 2014

Image
The last con I went to was ACen. I had an amazing time and I will try my best to go next year if I can. Me as the Undertaker. On May 16-18, I attended Anime Central 2014.It one of the top three largest anime convention in the states, I believe. It was a lot larger than Anime Matsuri and a lot of activities to do. However, I didn't attend any of the panels, but I did attend many of the group cosplay photo op sessions. This time I was able to dress up all weekend. I brought my Undertaker (Black Butler), Boris Airay (Alice in the Country of Hearts), AiMikaze (Uta no Prince-sama), and Ukyo (Amnesia) cosplays. Once again my Undertake, which I wore Friday, was very popular especial with me walkingaround with a fake skull. Every five minutes I was stopped for a photo ^_^! I have to thank Kayla for being my manager because with long nails and hair in myface it was difficult to shop in or notice when someone wanted a photo with me lol. Kayla as Ranmaru, me as Ai, and...
