Anicult - Surabaya, Indonesia

June 6-7 2015, I spent time at an anime event in Surabaya, Indonesia. It was the first event that I ever attended outside the US. I was really excited to attend because I knew a few friends who were attending including a few members of 1000% Boyz, Flo, Novi, and Miho. So I was really excited to see them and what they would be wearing to the event.

I was very nervous because I was not sure what would happen once I got there. I am used to anime events held in hotels or large convention centers, but in Indonesia they aremostly held in malls and are very small (though it did not seem so small with how crowded it got).  Which in its own way is pretty cool because there were lots of places to eat if you got REALLY hungry :3. Usually they only have a contest and a Q&A session with the guestsand of course, depending on the event, a performance of some kind.

Though what made me happy was seeing Sato, Ryo, Ochi, and Adrian cosplay from UtaPri..... cause even though I am their friend I was a fan at first, though they probably did not realize how much I was fan-girling on the inside after seeing them XD. I am usuallyvery good at controlling my fan-girling...... unless Reika is involved (LOL). Even though I did not get to see them perform, I at lease got to see a little bit of the 1000% Boyz  ^_^ *happiness*

Overall, the people were more nice and interactive than at any convention or event I’ve been to.As soon as I walked into the event I was being stopped for selfies, it was a nice change of pace. I was also glad that I brought about 40-ish name cards with me because by the end of the weekend I only had one left. I also collected tons of other cosplayers' name cards, which I am keeping as souvenirs since that does not happen often in the US. I also think a lot of people were really excited to meet a cosplayer from the US because, after getting selfies, everyone seemed excited to hear I was from the US visiting friends in Surabaya (lol). For the event I brought my Noiz from Dramatical Murder and Shin-ah from Akatsuki no Yona, they were all major hits and it made me really happy to know people loved/liked my cosplays.
There were a lot of awesome cosplays from mechas, warriors from Japanese video games, and other well known anime/manga. I was very impressed with their cosplays and even saw a cute little kid cosplaying a mecha character. I seriously love when little tiny kids cosplay..... it is like the only time I can actually think a kid is adorable XD. I also got to see Baozi and Hana, two Chinese guys who are extremely talented cosplayers. They’re in a relationship with each other and do a lot of shipping cosplays, and Hana will crossplay a few times. They make beautiful women when they do..... so jealous XD

But my favorite moment was meeting two cosplayers, who were cosplaying my favorite yaoi, Ten Count!!!! I really am in love with that manga and as soon as I saw them I fan-girled. I rarely see BL cosplays in the US except from Dramatical Murder. I was totally excited to see them! :D<3 :D

Yes I was in the Cosplay walk.... I messed up and almost lost my mask on stage.... so that was a bit embarrassing XD

I got to also see Genji and Nonky from 1000% Boyz at Anicult. It was so nice to meet them and talk to them ^_^, and I think Nonky is defiantly the older brother type that I beat up for messing with me all the time, lol XD. I also made friends with a lot of new people, I cannot name them all off the top of my head except for Ditto (who enjoys photo-bombing photos :P ) and Luna (Who was very sweet to talk to and always stopped to talk to me :) )

I also have to say all the cosplay photographers are totally awesome!!!! I’ve never had my photos taken at an event before by pros and all the photos I’ve seen of my Noiz have be sooooo epic!!!! I did not realize how manly I looked hahaha :) THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
