Conventions and Cosplay

Once again, I return to my favorite convention: Anime M at suri (AM). I had been planning my return since the end of last A M . Mostly because I decided I wanted to try new things for 2017. One of those new things would include being a model for the J- Fashion Show . This would be my first time being a fashion model. I applied to be a model when the applications opened and was accepted to much of my delight. After seeing Ale x's experiences back in 2014, I felt like I wanted to see what it was like to walk the stage with such amazing designers and models. The second new experience w o uld be hiring my first photographe r for a convention . I have never gotten professional photography done for any of my cosplays, so this was a whole new experience and I loved it!  To join me on this wonderful weekend were my three roommates Ryan, Dulce, and Tiffani. My long awaited return to Anime Matsuri (AM) came and went so quickly. I miss it so much and once again I have a lot to say about Anime Matsuri. I had no trouble getting there this year and that is always good. I had 5 new roommates: Marley , Dulce , Ryan , Samantha , and Kathryn . Sam and Kat, had horrible car trouble just five minutes from the hotel. Luckily, they were able to get the car fixed and still enjoy their time at AM. This year at AM was sharing my love for Reika and Kaname with my roommates and showing them how cool the guest stars are besides just walking around. By Day 2 of the convention, I think I succeeded *evil laughter* Day 0: Thursday Akira and I Landed in Houston at 1pm, which was perfect timing to attend the Meet and Greet with Akira at the shop Alice in Wonderland in China Town. I have to say as soon as I arrived at Hilton Americas in Houston, TX on Thursday April 2 craziness started. Met up with my roommates for the convention Alex (who I met last year, ya that crazy girl who fangirled with me last JFashion Show), Carla, and the Kawaii Ambassador of Mexico Daniela....... basically a cosplayer rooming with three Lolitas, what craziness can come of that, right? I've grown up with conventions all my life, my father Joe Motes use to run a convention called Vulkon Entertainment. It was dedicated to most scifi shows, but he did create a few for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Back then I really wasn't into cosplaying, but I did find it interesting to see what people did. It wouldn't be until I attended my first convenion outside of Vulkon that I got really interested in cosplaying, Dragoncon 2009 to be exact. This is where I learned how to sew, weave on a loom, learned about Apothecary and weapons fighting. This is some old news, but in March 2014 I went to my first anime con in Houston: Aime Matsuri. Even after some minor issues with flights and how unorganized the convention was I decided to return again for Anime Matsuri 2015. Ticket is already bought so I am pumped! My thoughts on Anime Matsuri: After the tiring time trying to get to Houston, I was able to make it to Anime Matsuri. My time spent there was too short! So here is a short break down of what all I did and who I met. :D Friday: Have to say this convention seems very unorganized, but I heard it is normal so I won't complain too much. Most of the shows and the exhibit hall were on an hour delay. Was waiting in line to view the exhibit hall where I became friends with Holly and her daughter.
