Evillecon 2014

Another convention I went to earlier on this year and my thoughts on it. Not sure if I plan on returning to it or not.

On March 28-30, I spent my time at Evillecon located in Evansville, IN. Its a very small anime convention, in fact the smallest convention I have ever been to.

Overall it was a relaxing time filled with a lot of people asking for my photos. I dressed up as my three main cosplays Ai Mikaze (Friday), Undertaker (Saturday), and Boris Airay (Sunday). Friday felt very long and the first cosplayer I got my picture taken was with someone dressing up at Syo-chan from Uta no Prince-sama! This is the third time this year that the first UtaPri cosplayer I find is  a Syo-chan. :)

On Saturday, I participated for the first time in a cosplay contest. I decided to go as the Undertaker for it since he is my favorite character to cosplay because I can really pull off his creepy smile. I even brought oe of my toy skulls with me as a prop. Saddly did not win, but I expected as much. My costume making skills are not that amazing. Hopefully with time I can learn to build props and try again with Undertaker or another cosplay. I was happy to see that I was the only Undertaker at the convention and was stopped a LOT for photos and hugs.

Vic Mignogna, voice actor.

I did get to enjoy see Vic Mignogna, who voices a lot of characters in anime dubs.

Overall, I have to say it was an ok convention to go to if you are just starting out as a cosplayer or going to your first anime convention. I think I will stick with the larger conventions like Anime Matsuri and Dragoncon. For some odd reason I find it a lot more comrable at larger cons then I did at Evillecon. Hopefully with my first costume contest out of the way I will feel a lot calmer the next time I try :).
