My Cosplaying

Image
I've grown up with conventions all my life, my father Joe Motes use to run a convention called Vulkon Entertainment. It was dedicated to most scifi shows, but he did create a few for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Back then I really wasn't into cosplaying, but I did find it interesting to see what people did. It wouldn't be until I attended my first convenion outside of Vulkon that I got really interested in cosplaying, Dragoncon 2009 to be exact. My friend Monica on the left and I am on the right.  Before I started to cosplay I was in a high school club called Paladin Society where I volunteered at Renaissance Fairs thought out south Florida. This is where I learned how to sew, weave on a loom, learned about Apothecary and weapons fighting. After I got into my university I thought I never sew again, but in 2013 I got inspire by a famous cosplayer. Her name is Reika and she a famous Japanese cosplayer that has traveled the world to appear as a main guest fo...

ACen (Anime Central) 2014

Image
The last con I went to was ACen. I had an amazing time and I will try my best to go next year if I can. Me as the Undertaker. On May 16-18, I attended Anime Central 2014.It one of the top three largest anime convention in the states, I believe. It was a lot larger than Anime Matsuri and a lot of activities to do. However, I didn't attend any of the panels, but I did attend many of the group cosplay photo op sessions. This time I was able to dress up all weekend. I brought my Undertaker (Black Butler), Boris Airay (Alice in the Country of Hearts), AiMikaze (Uta no Prince-sama), and Ukyo (Amnesia) cosplays. Once again my Undertake, which I wore Friday, was very popular especial with me walkingaround with a fake skull. Every five minutes I was stopped for a photo ^_^! I have to thank Kayla for being my manager because with long nails and hair in myface it was difficult to shop in or notice when someone wanted a photo with me lol. Kayla as Ranmaru, me as Ai, and...

Evillecon 2014

Image
Another convention I went to earlier on this year and my thoughts on it. Not sure if I plan on returning to it or not. On March 28-30, I spent my time at Evillecon located in Evansville, IN. Its a very small anime convention, in fact the smallest convention I have ever been to. Artist Ally Overall it was a relaxing time filled with a lot of people asking for my photos. I dressed up as my three main cosplays Ai Mikaze (Friday), Undertaker (Saturday), and Boris Airay (Sunday). Friday felt very long and the first cosplayer I got my picture taken was with someone dressing up at Syo-chan from Uta no Prince-sama! This is the third time this year that the first UtaPri cosplayer I find is  a Syo-chan. :) Me as Ai Mikaze with a Syo-chan cosplayer. On Saturday, I participated for the first time in a cosplay contest. I decided to go as the Undertaker for it since he is my favorite character to cosplay because I can really pull off his creepy smile. I even brought...

Anime Matsuri 2014

Image
This is some old news, but in March 2014 I went to my first anime con in Houston: Aime Matsuri. Even after some minor issues with flights and how unorganized the convention was I decided to return again for Anime Matsuri 2015. Ticket is already bought so I am pumped! My thoughts on Anime Matsuri: After the tiring time trying to get to Houston, I was able to make it to Anime Matsuri. My time spent there was too short! So here is a short break down of what all I did and who I met. :D Friday: Have to say this convention seems very unorganized, but I heard it is normal so I won't complain too much. Most of the shows and the exhibit hall were on an hour delay. Was waiting in line to view the exhibit hall where I became friends with Holly and her daughter. They were amazing and so nice to talk to especial since I was traveling by myself to this convention. Once the doors finally opened I bought all my Reika related souvenirs. I really wanted the giant poster of Reika t...
